So I’m doing research, and I find the following heartwarming inscription in the flyleaves in one of my library books:

If you can’t make it out in the image, the inscription reads, in childish scrawl, “To Mommy With Love.” Below, in a better hand (Daddy?): “Happy Birthday 1980.”
So, a cute little glimpse into some family’s moment of domestic happiness? Maybe. But less so when you see the frontispiece for the book:

Creepy.
